Your Last Wish - Prologue

Your Last Wish –

Prologue.

I stood upon the boulder at Fourtrees and twitched my tail in the early evening light, L sat beside me watching the leaves sway.

'When will he be here Deathwish?' Asked L, lashing his tail back and forth in excitement.

'He said sunset, he will be here L, the sun has just vanished.' I replied a little irritably, he had been asking the same question for a while now.

We sat in silence, our ears flicking backwards and forth waiting for any sound.

'He needs to hurry up, I'm hungry and I want to meet him.'

'If you are that hungry go and hunt, but you'll miss him!' I flattened my ears and rolled my eyes.

'My points exactly Deathwish, I don't want to miss him, his little messengers are impressive, so hopefully he will live up to his name!'

I started to growl when the scent of cats filled my nostrils.

I flicked my tail at him. 'Be quiet, they are here.'

L immediately sat up straighter, his ears focused on where the small noises of pawsteps where becoming louder, I kneaded the cool boulder with my paws and waited silently.

We heard a slight hiss before all pawsteps stopped.

'Deathwish?' Called a familiar, and long since last heard voice.

'Father! I am here!'

Into the dark light of dusk stepped a long haired dark brown tabby cat, his ragged fur and scarred pelt gave him the look of a much older cat.

He made his way into the clearing and I bounded off of the boulder to greet him.

'Father.' I purred as we touched noses.

'Little one, you have grown so.' He purred louder than I.

'So this is him.' Yowled L from atop the boulder.
'Is this your mate Deathwish?'

'Yes Father, he is safe.'

The tabby tom looked up at L on the rock and L flinched at the gaze, he mewed behind him and the rest of his rogues emerged from the bushes in one sleek movement, with a twitch of his tail, they came to rest behind him.

'I'm undecided,' he whispered to me jokingly, turning his attention back to L, his voice ran out across the clearing. 'Yes L, it is I, Brokenstar.'
